Gaillac

Gaillac is located 25 km west of Albi and 50 km north-east of Toulouse, in the département du Tarn. The fame of Gaillac, a town on the Tarn River, is of the vineyards that surround the town. Gaillac wines are internationally held in very high regard, and you will have ample opportunity to sample them.

Another highlight of Gaillac itself is the Abbey Saint-Michel, with its roots in the 10th century, although substantially enhanced in the 13th and 16th centuries and renovated at the end of the 20th century.

Other highlights include a 17th century château, and an attractive old town, largely built in the same red-brick as Toulouse and Albi. There are also some colombage houses in the old town.
